Vineyard Pumpkin Patch

Last week I took the kids out to the Vineyard Pumpkin Land. It was really cute. We went in the corn maze and found the witch who told us the secret password for the kids to get a treat at the end of the maze. After the maze we went to see all the animals. And then to the playground. They had a giant pumpkin that you could sit in and tunnels for the kids to climb through. After we (or I should say I) was finished with the playground we went into the lighted area. They had Cinderella's carriage and tons of different Halloween themes lighted up. It was really cute. Here is some pics of the kids.

I also went last week to see Thriller with some friends. But I didn't take any pics of the show. But here is a pic of us at dinner. We had such a great time. I love the tradition that we have started doing. We have gone the last few years and have a great time every year. Thanks girls for a great time!

Busy Week!

Okay so we had a busy week. We went up to Gardners Village for the witch festival. The kids and I went with: Glenda (Chad's mom), Christy, Heather, Tiffany (Chad's sisters), Joan (Chad's Aunt), and all the kids! We had a great time. The kids love to see the witches and especially love to shop at the candy store!

On Wednesday, we had a family birthday party for Logen. He had all of his cousins, aunts, uncles, and grandparents over. He got lots of great gifts. Our little guy doesn't love cake but loves ice cream so I made him an ice cream cake instead. He was so funny he didn't want the cake that was given to him on his plate he wanted it straight out of the pan. He was even feeding Grandma Deb out of the pan also. He is such a crazy kid. But he brings so much laughter in our family. Thank you everyone that came to celebrate his special day with us.

Friday came and it was time to go to the cabin for the annual deer hunt! I stayed Saturday morning with the kids while Chad, Matt and Jen all went out looking for the monster buck. But didn't find one. So that evening we took the kids out on the boat to the island in Strawberry and looked for the monster there. We found some good bucks but it was getting too late to go after them, we will get them in the morning. As we were looking around the island Saturday we watched a deer swim across the lake. It was pretty amazing, the kids loved watching all the deer. Sunday morning came and we went out to stalk the bucks. We got to the island, parked the boat and started hiking (very big island). We were going after some bucks, so we went up the ridge next to them and got up there and just when we finally got to a point to see them, they went over the top of the hill. So we hiked clear throughout the entire island, but never found another buck. Pretty depressing. So our hunt ended for the weekend and we will have to start all over again next weekend.

It is kind of hard to see, but this is the picture of the deer swimming across the lake. We didn't want to get too close, we were afraid that it would panic and drown.

Jen is going to kill me for posting this pic, but don't you just love her outfit! This is after the hike on Sunday also.

Graden liked playing in Woody's(Larry and Glenda's puppy) dog kennel.

Logen's 3rd birthday was Sunday. So after our hunt we made him the usual pancake with a candle and sang to him. We stopped at Grandpa Clive's and Kris' on our way home. They gave him a really fun train set. They made cupcakes and sang to him. We stopped at Morgan's house (Chad's niece) for her birthday party also. Logen, Morgan, and Grandma Shirley (Chad's G-ma) all share the same birthday! We finally made it home from the cabin and threw together some dinner and let Logen open his birthday gifts from us. He got a Leapster (he always takes Dagen's), transformer, movies, and clothes! I think he had a pretty fun day! Happy Birthday Little Man, We Love You!!

Logen's 3 Year Old Pics

Logen is having a birthday on the 19th. So I dropped Dagen and Taite off at school and ran to get some pics done. I have been so busy I just haven't had the time to get them done. So I stopped in at Kiddie Kandids and he did such a great job. Here they are:

I have been wanting to do some pics with the three boys together. Does anyone have any suggestions on a photographer that does well with rowdy boys?!?

Dagen is Silly!

So we were eating dinner last night. And I had cooked some green beans. I looked over at Dagen and he was disecting his beans and saving the seeds.

Mom: Dagen why aren't you eating the seeds?

Dagen: I am going to go plant them out back, so we can have more beans.

Mom: Okay I would love to have more beans. That is a great idea!

Dagen: I know they are my favorite food!

So after dinner he took all of his seeds and went and planted them in the sandbox. Do you think we will get green beans next spring?!?

Sometimes he says the funniest things! But I still love him!

Marla Roo Minky's

If you have never had a good minky blanket you are missing out. Marla is a one of my good friends moms. She makes these blankets and they are the best lounging blankets or baby blankets. They wash so good. I received one for a baby shower when I had Dagen and it has gone through all three of my boys and it still looks brand new.

The blankets make perfect gifts. Christmas, baby shower, or birthdays! So check out her website and find out what she has, or you can go down to her boutique house in Lake Shore. Marla offers tons of things now, she has the blankets of course, diaper bags, wipe covers, pillow cases, crib bedding, and much more. So go, check out the website you know you want to! It is still under construction, so it doesn't show all of her products but you can get the idea.

Happy 30th Birthday!

To my wonderful husband, friend and best daddy ever. Happy birthday old man! I can give him a hard time about being so old because I am ALOT younger than him! This is a couple days late, but for good reason. We went up to the cabin for his birthday and the muzzleloader hunt. No luck on the hunt but a good time relaxing. Happy birthday baby, I love you!

Also the day before Chad's birthday was his dad's birthday. So happy birthday Larry, we love you!

Play Dough and Stuff

While Dagen and Taite were in school today, I made them some play dough. We set up the picnic table outside - to not make a mess on my 'oh so clean floor'! LOL
Here is some pics of them having some fun!

Taite and Dagen

Taite - I watch Taite for a few days a week while Ashley is at work. We have really enjoyed having her around. She is such a sweet girl! Thanks Ash!

Crazy Hair Day!

So as you know, Dagen doesn't have a ton of hair. So trying to make it crazy was a bit hard. I asked him if he could color it and he said that he teacher told him no. So we just spiked it the best we could and called it crazy. Well when we got to school this morning, there was tons of boys that had their hair colored. Oh well, next year!

I took the picture as we were in the parking lot of school with my phone, so it didn't turn out all that well.

The Elk Hunt is Over!!

Chad, Larry (Chad's dad), Matt( Chad's buddy) and Ben (Chad's brother-in-law) have been working really hard looking for the perfect bull. Chad left our house at 4:30 am on Saturday for opening day. They took the horses and went for a ride. I never heard from them and just assumed they had shot one. So some of the girls came over Saturday night and we watched a movie and hung with all the kids. Still never hearing from the guys. The girls left and I put the kids in bed and still never heard from the guys. At 1:00 am on Sunday Chad finally made it home. He was beat, sore and hungry! I fed him some leftover pizza and sent him to bed. The next morning we went up to Larry's to see what the outcome was. This is what we saw when we got there.

Great job Larry - I am so glad you finally drew the coveted tag!

Where were you?

I was sound asleep in my bed when my mom came bursting into my room saying, "I can't believe you can sleep through this, our country is under attack!" I obviously had no idea what was going on, I was sleeping peacefully. I drug myself out of bed and sat on the couch with my mom just in time to witness the 2nd plane crashing into the building. What horror I felt. I felt helpless, yet so angry. I made my way to work that afternoon with thoughts of anger. When I sat at my desk my co-worker, Kim, was just mad. She was having the hardest time working that day (obviously). In fact, I am not sure she did, she was reading everything she could on the internet to see what was happening. We just sat and shared our feelings that whole day.

One of the things that I remember also is that I purchased our airline tickets to go to Mim's wedding on Sept. 10. That was really scary to think that I was going to be getting on an airplane in a month.

So where were you and what were you feeling?

Drill Team Reunion

The greatest drill team coach ever, Michelle, is retiring at the end of this year. So she put together a drill team reunion. We got together on Thursday evening and mingled for awhile. We then split into groups and learned dances from the 80s, 90s, and 2000s, to perform at halftime during the Homecoming game on Friday night. I realized when we started dancing that I am not as young as I used to be. Wow was I sore the next day. I performed in the group of the 90s. It had a total of 12 girls in it. I thought that I was going to be a little more hidden in the groups since it is teams since 1980. That is 28 years worth of teams and I just so happened to pick the group that had fewer people. There was probably a total of 130 girls. But it was so great to see everyone, well that showed up, since there was only 2 girls from my senior class that did it. But it was still fun. I forgot my camera both nights, but Leslie said that she would email them to me. So when she does I will post some pics. Thanks Michelle for a great reunion. You are the best coach ever. And all the girls love and look up to you alot.

Conversations with Dagen

After School Conversation

Me: How was school?
Taite: Good
Dagen; Good
Me: What did you do?
Taite: Colored
Dagen: Stared at each other

So this is funny because I asked him what he did at school the other day and he said "nothing." So I replied, you just sat and stared at each other the whole time? He laughed. So now he actually has replied to my question the same way for the past couple of days.

After school on the day of the staring conversation we had to run some errands. So I decided in order to keep the kids from driving me crazy in the car we would stop at McDonalds and get them some lunch. Well I think we struck gold, because Dagen got two things of fries in his happy meal. So he tried to give them to Logen and Taite but they already had some. So I told him to give them to Beavis, referring to Graden.
Dagen says who is Beavis?
I told him I just called Graden that for fun. (it really isn't a nickname.)
Dagen says well I want to call him Chowder instead, can we?
So now I guess Graden's new nickname is Chowder, and I have no idea where he came up with it but it works I guess, I actually have called him that a few times since.

Binky or No Binky

Okay so I need to take away Graden's binky soon. He is 14 months old and it is time. With Dagen I just clipped the end of the binky and he refused to take it anymore. So I tried that with Graden and he still sucks on it. Does anyone have an idea on how I can eliminate the binky?

I am really having a hard time taking it away because Chad said that he will be our last one. And that just makes him still a baby to me if he still has the binky. Maybe I am crazy, but I just don't want him to grow up if he is the last baby in the Bringhurst Clan!

If you have any ideas, please leave a comment and let me know!

Thanks!

Dagen's First Day of Kindergarten

Today Dagen started Kindergarten.

I dropped the two boys off at my moms and took Dagen to his first day all by himself. He was so excited. We got there and they gave him a list of things to do with me before I left. We had to find where his backpack goes, find his cubby, find his name on the attendance board, weigh and measure him, put his name on a candle for his birthday month, and find where he will be sitting at his table. He was so excited that he got to decorate a visor while he waited for all the kids and parents to finish with their projects. I think he will have a great year in school, he has an awesome teacher, Mrs. Barber! She interacts well the kids. I can't believe how fast my lil buddy grew up. I love you, and I am so proud of you!
